The Palace Hotel Bussaco, in Bairrada, is among the 10 best hotels in the world for wine lovers elected by British magazine The Drinks Business.

The list, published last week, brings together hotel units that offer “luxury accommodation only a few steps from the vineyards”, taking advantage of the growth potential of wine tourism area, whose popularity has increased.

“The wine tourism has grown massively since the beginning of the XXI century, with hotels creating even special packages for those looking to immerse themselves in the wine world, walking the vineyards and tasting the wines of each region,” can be read the article from The Drinks Business.

Among the 10 hotels with best offers in this area the Portuguese Palace Hotel Bussaco, five-star hotel situated in the heart of the Bussaco National Forest “which was a convent before becoming the last of the kings of Portugal palace,” the publication writes.

Although, according to the article, Bairrada is an area still “extremely undervalued outside Portugal”, the quality of its wines – particularly sparkling and red wine, very famous in the country – is beginning to extend beyond national borders.

The list of the top 10 hotel units for wine connoisseurs is still part of hotels in countries as diverse as Italy, Argentina, South Africa, France, Spain, USA, Uruguay and New Zealand.
