Roman galleries open to the public from 11 to 13 April

To signal the International Day for Monuments and Sites, the City Museum will open its Roman Galleries of Rua da Prata, Lisbon, on 11, 12 and 13 April. During these three days, the monument can be visited free of charge by the public, between 10h and 18h.

Entries are made in a group, without marking, with technical people and the City Museum and Archaeology Center Lisbon as guides.

In what is another opportunity to meet this Lisbon treasure, opened to the public only once a year, the meeting point is at Rua da Conceição, near the number 77.

As in previous openings are expected lengthy, taking account of the rarity with which these historical galleries can be exploited by the public.

The same is due to the high level of water that is recorded there and it requires pumping takes time and even has serious effects on the conservation of the monument itself if it were run more often.

The visitable part of the Roman Galleries of a network of perpendicular galleries, different heights, getting your restricted access by the intervention of sewage collectors in the capital.

The last visit is scheduled to take place at 17:30 each day, with notice by the Museum of the queues may close earlier due to “large influx of the public”.
